Marine electrical installation and fault finding

Electrical installation and fault finding is at the core of our skills and services. We will be able to meet all of your electrical needs and provide a solution to your electrical problems. Extensive knowledge on systems from 4-20mA to 660v means we cater for all types of marine vessels including commercial ships, naval warships and superyachts. This electrical expertise, coupled with our wider capabilities mean we are able to offer a comprehensive ‘turn-key’ solution for general repair and maintenance work as well as major refit and new build projects. Our expert electrical teams are available on a planned or emergency basis 24hrs a day, 365 days a year and can often be mobilised within a matter of hours for both UK and international deployment.

These are just some of the services we offer:

  • Generator fault finding and repair
  • Motor repair and rewind
  • LED lighting transfer
  • Thermal Imaging
  • Generator cleaning
  • Electrical CAD design
  • Project management
  • Ingress Protection (IP2X) upgrade work
  • Maintenance of large rotating equipment
  • Flood & fire damage repair
  • Alarm systems
  • Engine management systems
  • Navigation systems
  • Switchboards and bus bar work/inspections
  • Breaker supply, testing and install (ACB) (MCCB)
  • Class inspections
  • Fault finding on all AC/DC circuits up to 3.3 KV

Thermal Imaging

We carry out thermal imaging on marine and industrial equipment and switchgear. If required, we can provide a riding crew anywhere in the world to achieve optimum test results of equipment being used under load.

All work is undertaken using a Flir Thermal Image camera. The digital image is then uploaded to Flir software for analysis. A report is generated, supplied as a PDF file and a photo-quality hard copy print for your records. This report highlights defects or potential failure in equipment with an advisory action that gets to the source of the problem, before it becomes a problem.

Generator cleaning

With such a high demand for this service across the industry we have adopted our own system of generator cleaning. This can be carried out on board or at one of our sites. Using a two part chemical cleaning solvent we can dynamically clean and overhaul resulting in a more efficient generator with higher Insulation Resistant value (IR value).

Project management

We are able to offer customers a complete electrical service from the initial planning through to the on-site delivery by our installation team. Planning is crucial to any project, so involving us at the early stage with our in-house CAD technicians and project managers will ensure your project is expertly conceived, managed and delivered.

We are also able to offer supervisory and project management support on a bespoke basis. We utilise the latest in project management software giving “real time” status information. Our approach is to engage with our clients on a fully transparent basis ensuring cooperation at all stages leading to delivering projects on time and in budget.

LED lighting - design and installation

We can provide the complete solution for your vessel’s transfer to LED technology. By making these simple changes to lighting systems, vessels can dramatically lower their power consumption and therefore decrease fuel consumption and subsequently emissions and operating costs.

Following a load survey we can extrapolate data and produce a detailed proposal identifying the actual cost savings you will make in reduced fuel consumption and maintenance works, together with a ‘buy back’ timeline. All LED lighting systems are of a bespoke design and the majority of works can be carried out whilst the vessel remains in service with only minor disruption.
