Wave gates installed at king point marina, portsmouth

The construction of the new 171-berth King Point Marina at Millbay in Plymouth has reached a major milestone, with the installation of two 27 ton wave gates manufactured by Southampton Marine Services.

The two 10.5 x 13.5 metre steel gates were lifted by a 500 tonne mobile crane and placed into position in the lock barrel at the entrance to Millbay’s inner dock basin, with divers working to complete the fitting in the early hours of 22 May, 2013.

The £4 million King Point Marina is being developed by waterfront regeneration and destination specilasts Sutton Harbour Holding plc.
